Recently Apple released their “IPad”, a device that looks like an oversized IPhone.
This first release comes with a 1GHz Processor, which should be plenty for most users as the IPad currently cannot run more than one application at once. Hopefully future upgrades of the software will allow the user to run multiple applications.
Apple haven’t forgotten about the internet, having bundled the IPad with Wifi by default and 3G as an extra. It supports GPRS, UMTS, HSDPA and edge. The Wifi adapter supports a/b/g/n. They have also included GPS and Bluetooth 2.1 with this device. Safari is included as per usual with apple devices. The IPad also has an email client bundled with it.
Unfortunately, there is no built-in camera, nor an expansion slot to plug one in! This is definatly a big minus factor, as most users would enjoy video streaming or video chatting with their friends.
There is also no slot for a memory card, so upgrading the memory is not possible. Although it does come with either 16Gb, 32Gb or 64Gb of memory builtin.
It has a SIM card tray, but apparently doesn’t support calls or sms’s.. Only uses the sim card for internet connectivity. If someone knows of a hack or app that allows calling/texting please email me..
You can expect to get the IPad for between $400 and $900.
EDIT I found an Interesting article here.
